The Snort (plus more pics)
So we are home now (just got home about 2 hours ago) and I am finally able to upload more pictures. But first... here is a great video showing Nina's cute snort. It is slowly going away (the snort, that is), so I am glad that we got this early morning footage when she was about 14 hours old. Enjoy...
Here are some more pictures of our cute little Nina...

Introducing...
Nina Mae De Groot arrived yesterday (July 13th) at 1:07pm, weighing 6 pounds 14 ounces and 20 inches long. She is the most beautiful thing in the world, and SO sweet. Whitney and I are trying our best to figure out how to be parents, and so far we are having a great time (even with the complete lack of sleep between a night of contractions 5-10 minutes apart and our first night as parents!). We are so excited to finally have here here, and we are excited to introduce you to her. So without further adieu...

I apologize for the lack of pictures... the internet here at the hospital is giving me grief. WAY more to come so please stay tuned. I am going to leave all of the juicy details of the pre-labor and labor to Whitney... she experienced it first hand and I would forget half of the important details. The delivery went relatively well besides two problems... there was some meconium in the amniotic sac and the umbilical cord was loosely around Nina's neck (it was causing her heart rate to drop right after some of the contractions). Besides that the delivery was absolutely amazing. Now the real fun begins of being parents! Wish us luck, and look for more pictures and details soon.
Oh, one other thing... Nina SNORTS like a pig all day long. I will post a video of her doing it soon because it is the cutest thing in the world. I just hope she grows out of it by the time she is 16... it won't be too cute then.

no news is USUALLY good news...
That is right folks...we are still here and baby is still in the womb. Lets just say it has been a long few days. I went to the doctor on Tuesday and he said I was a whole 1cm dilated and 60-70% effaced. We set up an induction date for next monday (my dad's b-day) and so there is now a for real deadline on this baby. I am trying to stay busy and keep my mind off of it...but it is kinda hard. I just want this waiting thing to end. I must sound like the most impatient person in the world. It is 3 days after my due date...but it feels like 3 months. Oh well...like my doctor told me, he has NEVER treated a patient that has been pregnant forever. Thanks for that! Well if any of you have any grand ideas about how to keep me busy without going crazy you can send them my way...or any great tricks to get me to pop (no castor oil please...I just don't think I could do it) send those along too! We will let you know as soon as this darlin' arrives.

2 more days until we are due... sounds like a good time to hit the golf course!
Yesterday I was talking with my father in law (Mr. Rick Wheadon) and Tanner (Whitney's "little" brother) and we decided that we would go golfing. I called Cedar Hills Golf Club and got a tee time for 6 am. We thought we'd go early before it got really hot. Imagine my suprise when Whitney said she wanted to come along as well! So we hit the greens pretty early this morning and had a great time. Here are a few pics of us out on the course...

Submit Your Guesses!!
I was talking to Mandy(My sister-in-law) last week and she said that I needed to get input from everyone on the blog about when this baby is coming. So please submit your guess about what day and time you think this baby will be born...and how big (weight and hight) she will be. Whoever guesses the closest will get some sort of major tribute here on the Blog. Love you all!

39 weeks and <1 cm
So we had a doctor's appointment today and we were shocked to find out that there has been little if any progress with regards to the baby's "ripeness" since our last visit. Our doctor checked Whitney's progress and then talked about how they normally induce when a woman goes a week past her due date. So I guess we should just plan for the 14th of July, and we'll be really excited if our little girl decides to come earlier =).
So we are just moving on with life, trying to get in that last minute of spontaneity while we can. Last Saturday we packed up the durango and headed up to silver lake up American Fork Canyon. We left pretty early (5:30am) so that we could get there when the fish were jumping. It was beautiful up there. Here are a few pictures to remind everyone how friggin' awesome the mountains in Utah are. And this lake is literally a 30-35 minute drive from where we live! Enjoy...
So how amazing is this picture? This is really the biggest fish that we caught, and Whitney couldn't have been happier =). Funny story about this lake though... we were there for 3 hours before we caught anything. During those 3 hours we watched a 9 year old girl and her dad catch 12 fish and they were only like 20 yards from us. I asked them what they were using and they said green powerbait.... the exact same thing as us. As soon as they left we scooted over a little bit and caught this whopper within 15 minutes.
Wanted to give you all another quick house update... I went out to the house tonight with my Dad and 2 brothers. Drywall is all up and taped, and it looks like the next step is the stucco and the interior trim. Here are some visuals...
Me with my brothers Ryan (left) and Mike (right). Mike just got home from his mission to Portugal last week. What a good looking group of guys, eh?
Well, that is about it for this update. Stay tuned because we'll let you know as soon as the baby decides she wants to come out (or when the doctor decides she is ready to come out). Until next time...
